Electronics

In electronics you remember laws, components, symbols and circuit formulas. Lumi has you recall each one so you can read a schematic without hesitating over what each component does.

How to turn this subject into cards

In electronics, make a card set per component, resistor, capacitor, inductor, diode, transistor. For each, note the symbol, the role, the formula that describes it and its unit. Add a set for circuit laws, Ohm, Kirchhoff, the voltage divider. The trap is applying a law on a simple schematic, then getting lost when the circuit grows. Lumi quizzes you on the symbol, the law and the unit, which frees your head for analysis. Spreading revision over several days works better than redoing everything the night before (Cepeda et al., 2006). It helps you remember symbols, laws, formulas and units.

Ohm’s law says voltage equals current times resistance. Resistors in series add up, so total resistance is R1 plus R2. A capacitor stores energy in an electric field. A diode lets current flow in only one direction. A transistor can act as an electronic switch.
