Study by subject

German

In German, genders, cases, strong verbs and vocabulary are what you can memorise. Lumi asks them back, while speaking and writing are built by practising.

How to turn this subject into cards

Make one note per vocabulary list, strong verb, case and word-order rule. Always learn a noun with its article, because gender is almost impossible to guess. Lumi quizzes articles, endings and irregular forms, and makes you write the word. Retesting a word you already know has more effect than studying it again (Karpicke and Roediger, 2008). The typical trap is knowing the word without its article. Lumi fixes the basic material.
