Study by subject

Property law

Property law means telling apart the different interests in land and goods. Lumi quizzes you on those differences so you stop mixing up the types of ownership.

How to turn this subject into cards

Make one note per estate or interest, fee simple, life estate, easement, with its rights, duration and how it is created. Quiz yourself on the difference between two neighbouring interests. The trap is remembering the labels without being able to say what the holder can do. Lumi helps you retain definitions, rights, durations and how interests arise.

A fee simple absolute is the fullest form of ownership of land. Real property means land and what is attached to it, while personal property is everything else. Adverse possession lets a person gain title to land by openly occupying it for a statutory period. A life estate ends when the holder dies.
