Health studies after the first year
After the selection stage, health studies continue over several years of courses and clinical placements. Lumi helps you keep the programme in mind for exams and the final national exam.

In short
Once admitted to the second year, medicine, pharmacy, dentistry or midwifery studies are split into cycles. The first cycle covers the next two years, with scientific and medical foundations. The second cycle follows, with hospital placements as a student, called the externat. A national exam at the end of the second cycle ranks students to choose their speciality. The third cycle is specialisation.
What goes on your cards
In the second and third years, make cards for physiology, semiology, pharmacology, bacteriology, anatomy and biological values. From the fourth year on, add diseases with their definition, diagnosis and management. Lumi has you recall these lists.
A study rhythm
Exams come in blocks through the semesters, so keep a daily session on past material so it does not vanish before the national exam (Rawson and Dunlosky, 2011). Before an exam, add a wider session. Preparing for the national exam is a months-long job. See Spaced repetition, how long to wait between two reviews.
